Need of this mechanism
During observation it was found that the MS round bar which is to be cut is fed by
using hands. There are no proper equipment’s to fed the bar in the machine, the bar
is rest on the bin which we can see in the picture above due to which sometimes the
bar is being cut in wrong dimensions. To overcome this problems automation was
needed for cutting the m/s round bar in accuracy as well to reduce human efforts and
to reduce wastage of raw material. Therefore, by using stands and mechanized
motion the problem is solved.
Abstract
Our project in based on the feed to material in hack saw machine or any other type
of metal cutting machine. The assembly is used for giving automatically feed to
material which we want to cut with minimum human effort. The assembly consist
of a gear pair, chain and socket, battery, motor, actuator, one Arduino kit and one
pair of shaft. The assembly is use for in conventional metal cutting machines like
hack saw. This assembly reduces human effort at low cost which increase
productivity and profit for industry. It reduces time taken to cut one metal bar which
helps industry and their workers.
Introduction
In our industry they manufacture some Elevator parts and supply to their customers
as them need. They manufacture C/W frame unite, safety assembly parts, different
type of cabins and doors. They achieve product range 5 to 6 passengers, 8 to 10
passengers, 13 passengers, governor unit, retiring cam unit, deflector unit and car ;
C/W safety system.
The governor, which is located in the machine room or overhead depending on
the elevator design, is a speed monitoring device on traction elevators that triggers
the safety mounted on the car frame when the elevator over-speeds in either
direction.
5
The Door cam is the device used on some elevators (possibly not often seen on
automatic door elevators) that pushes the interlock roller, causing the interlock
to release, and allow the doors to open. The device is mounted to the elevator
car. There are 2 types of door cams. Fixed cams are stationary. Retiring cams
horizontally move, and retract when the elevator is moving. Fixed cams are
likely usually used on elevators serving only a few floors, and retiring cams are
likely used on elevators serving more than a few floors .
6
During manufacturing process small scale industries faces many difficulties
because of less automation available for them due to less financial support. So
we are trying to solve this problem so they can improve them by adding this
assembly at low cost and they made their production line more batter.
Literature Review: – 1
The vast review of literature we understood the concepts, theorems and different
factors affecting the performance of machine. R.S.Khurmi , J.K.Gupta in their book
“Theory of machines” (Velocities in mechanisms) helps to find Velocity diagrams
of slider crank mechanism. Also, other literature we studied includes various papers
on Automatic Feeding Mechanism for Power Hacksaw Machine by Mr.N.A.Jadhav
, Shubham Shinde , Pradip Thorwat , and Automatic Feeding Mechanism for Pipe
Cutting Machine Shital K.Sharma1 , Ashish V.Waghmare , Pranit S.Wakhare to
name a few. These literatures helped us a lot.

Literature Review: – 2
From the other Literature we understood the total components used in Hack saw
machine and how forces will act on the cutting material and feeding mechanism and
how machine is exclusively intended for the mass production and they represent
faster and more efficient way to feed the metal.
And also we note that the clamping arrangement can be varied according to need of
operations suitable. The overall system is compact in size, light weight, modular and
flexible to be used in small works jobs who need batch production. The setup overall
configuration can be adopted by a semi-skilled worker easily and can vary the
operations by making certain small changes. The system even has the potential to
add up a PLC system to control its overall working with ease and with less effort
provided. This system has the potential to adopt higher level of automation if desired
in future.
Literature is written by Shital K.Sharma , Ashish V.Waghmare , Pranit
S.Wakhare .

Research Gap
Previously many research has been done on the feeding in hack saw
machine which improve the cutting feed by different solutions and now
recently hydraulic and pneumatics machines are also available for cutting
purpose but they are very much costly for small scale industry so they are
running with the old technology machines.
Problem Definition
In previous method of feeding for bar or material is totally manual for big small
industries and almost medium scale industries so we are trying to solve this problem
by made this semi-automatic so it’s available for all at low cost and solve this
problem by reducing production time it increases productivity.
Objective
? The main objective of our product is increase the productivity of industry
as well as worker
? Increase quality of product
? Worker have to do less effort
? Reduce production time
? Less wastages of material due to semi-automation
