Clinical Decision Support is a system that is use in the process to assist healthcare actioners in their decision making toward individual patients when it is necessary for the delivery of care. It supports providers to make health and financially sound decision concerning their patients. This done by utilizing their skills, and experience alongside health information technology.
It is about providing essential information support structure for the health care professional. Whether the information is about the detail of medication interaction and its side effects when it is done right will help make the provider more knowledgeable to be able to provide the necessary care.

Improve reimbursements: Some orders require pre-approvals from insurance plans. CPOE, when integrated with an electronic practice management system, can flag orders that require pre-approval, helping you reduce denied insurance claims.
Also in the process is electronic prescribing (prescribing), it is an important aspect of the push in to enhance the safety and quality of the prescribing process. It allows providers in the ambulatory care setting to send prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy and can be stand alone system or one that is part of an integrated electronic health record system. (Porterfield, Engelbert, ; Coustasse, 2014)
E-prescribing sending and receiving have help to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical practice workflow, and patient satisfaction and compliance have increased. The ability to connect doctors with pharmacy has reduced paperwork and the errors that’s possible from handwritten notes. This have been credited with assisting in the saving on time and financial cost.
In conclusion all these tools are used to better manage healthcare an efficient and effective manner to in the benefit of patients, healthcare providers and the organization.
