I think that the author wants us to view the world through a child’s eyes. Personally, she made me feel like I was part of her childhood, as though, I was there to experience the joys and excitement of being chased in the cold myself. In the essay she says, “the point was that he had chased us passionately without giving up”. My understanding is the author admires her chaser because he is passionate and intense and moving her forward. This reminds me of Newton’s First Law of Motion, “that objects will remain in their state of motion unless a force acts to change the motion”.

After reading this short story, I immediately thought of the great Nelson Mandela, from my country, South Africa. Just like Mr. King he was an inspiration to his country also. The author, Drew Hansen gives us detail on how Mr. King’s Speech inspired a nation back in 1963. Mr. King’s speech not only affected Americans or the African American communities, but, racism, as an international problem.
