It is a part of cob ear where kernels can grow (wikidictionary, 2015) Due to its chemical composition corncob residues show great potential as a renewable raw material for producing a variety of added-value chemicals, such as lactic acid, citric acid, sugars, and ethanol. On the other hand, the secondary metabolites and constituents of corncobs remain unclear. Development of an efficient way to utilize corncobs will require additional research into the chemical nature of this environmental agro-waste and its potential application to the production of valuable chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Corn cob can be used in different ways like making corn stock, corn cob jelly, animal bedding, smoke meat, also it is use as a fire starter, pot scrubbers, seed starter pots, clothes brush and organic fertilizer.
SOCCSKARGEN or Region XII is located in the central Mindanao. It has a total land area of 2, 243, 651 hectare wherein 775, 309 hectare are agricultural. The region and the country depends mainly on agricultural products such as rice, corn, banana and pineapple. One of its major product is corn with its rich soil it can grow tons of tons of corn product that can supply the demand of other region.
