On February 2, 2018, Friday, my colleagues and I visited the National Museum of the Philippines. I can’t remember how many times I have been here, but it was as amazing as my first visit. There are so many things I’ve learned every time I enter the place where past and present collides. When I first entered the museum, I was amazed as it was so systematized and before you could enter inside, you must write your name in a registration book and it has this organized bag counter, where you can put your bag and some heavy stuff. There are so many things I see and I don’t even know where to start.
We were tasked to go to National Museum of the Philippines to find and observe five significant artifacts which we can relate to anthropology and sociology. There were so much awesome prehistoric things and I can’t even decide which of them I would pick. There were so much things that resembles our culture which can define how we live today, on how we became what we are and who we are, things left by our ancestors that molded our customs and our way of living,
I had astounding impressions on the ancient artifacts, these were beautiful but at the same time it holds its elegance. There are times that I thought, it was perfect that nature was able to preserve things that enables us to know more about our culture especially our ancestors, in which maybe we could learn how do they lived at that time, how do they cope with different struggles caused by the environment or even how they socialize and behave in the ancient times.
I have learned so many things, from smallest sculptures to the largest painting, it bequeathed into me so much knowledge about the Philippine history, and it was indeed a huge blast from the past. When we enter the National Art Gallery, it comprises the Anthropology and Archaeology Division, there were so many exhibits of very old artifacts from the time when the Philippines still haven’t been colonized until the time our country started to trade things and products in different regions. In this room, it holds the exquisite and awesomeness of the Islands of our country, it suppress and shows how much beautiful and how rich the Philippines is.
