The Odyssey and the Inferno are two great poems that are two thousand years apart. In the Odyssey, the main character was Odysseus who is a war hero that is traveling home, after many years spent away from home. In the Inferno, the main character is Dante, a man who lost his faith and was struggling between good and evil. “Midway along the journey of our life, I woke to find myself in a dark wood, for I had wandered off from the straight path.” (Alighieri, trans. 2012, Canto I, lines 1-3). Because of loss of faith, Dante finds himself lost in the dark. There is a lot of difference between the Odyssey and the Inferno, their characters, Their religious belief, also some similarities.
