The Odyssey and the Inferno are two great poems that are two thousand years apart. In the Odyssey, the main character was Odysseus who is a war hero that is traveling home, after many years spent away from home. In the Inferno, the main character is Dante, a man who lost his faith and was struggling between good and evil. “Midway along the journey of our life, I woke to find myself in a dark wood, for I had wandered off from the straight path.” (Alighieri, trans. 2012, Canto I, lines 1-3). Because of loss of faith, Dante finds himself lost in the dark. There is a lot of difference between the Odyssey and the Inferno, their characters, Their religious belief, also some similarities. Although both characters have different belief, they both share relationship between humanity and divine through their journey
