Veracity is being completely truthful with patients, nurses must not withhold the whole truth from clients even when it may lead to patient distress. Truth, telling has become the basis for most relationship between healthcare professional and patients.Ethical question is “Are there any circumstances where a healthcare professional should be ethically excused from telling the truth to their patients”.
There are two kind of veracity violations:
Dishonesty (Lie).
Willful omission (Not telling the whole truth is a lie).
Making a decision depends on knowing the truth of both parties have the right to choose. Also both parties must tell the truth.
